Starting ETCC

Hi Folks:

I've decided to try appeasing my NFS/PU buddies, who are
only reluctantly accepting F1C as a replacement for the now
defunct NFS/PU.  NFS/PU being dead because EA pulled the
plug on the online servers.

So I've loaded ETCC, it's interesting, but pushes my old
dual P3/600 way past it's abilities if the graphics options
are bumped to the levels I can live with in F1C.

   Anyway...

I installed the mod on my WIN2k system, and took a couple
of laps before I remembered I was running as administrator,
so I logged in as my user, and of course there is no icon on
my screen.  I found ETC03Launcher in my F1C directory and
fired it up.

I got that first ETCC screen, selected "Start the Mod"
and hit the proceed button.  This started F1 Challenge.

How do I start ETCC in WIN2K?

                                                   Thanks
                                                   Larry

Thanks Aidee:

   I thought I tried that.

I start the launcher with the "Run" button of the startup menu.
Create a new player called "Dragon".  Hit "Start the Mod".

Yep, there is the F1 Challenge startup screen, a Ferrari turning
in the display, and the selected player is "Larry Lindstrom".  This
isn't working.

I'm from a Unix background.  I'd rather keep administrator
sessions for administrator work, and run other applications as a
non privileged user.  This is to protect the system.

Suggestions?  How are XP users installing F1 Challenge and the
ETCC mod?  How are you running the XP mod.

I appreciate your advice Aidee, but I'm still not getting it to
run under my normal user account.

I need to practice A1 in my Ferrari anyway.

Against my better judgment, I ran the ETCC mod as administrator
last night and my NFS/PU buddies both loved it.  These guys want to
paint their cars.  Can someone point me at a page that describes
how they can do that?

We are all very impressed with the work this theam produced.

   Great job folks.

                                                             Thanks

Most games seem to require you to run as admin under XP.  Dumb, but that's
the way it is.  Esp. if you installed as admin.  If you want to run as a
user, you might try reinstalling as that user.  Otherwise the user doesn't
have permission for all the files.  That's what I used to have to do in
Linux IIRC.

Thanks Haqsau:

I have my WIN2K installed in an NTFS partition, but my F1C had to be
installed as administrator.  I put it in a WIN98 partition and I can run
F1C as a normal user.  I was hoping ETCC, which is in the same WIN98
directory, would allow me to do the same thing.

I appreciate your reply.  Sorry we won't see you tomorrow.  If I
can't
get closer to my old time I might sit it out too.  Unless I know someone
else is close to being that bad.

Thanks
                                                                   Larry
