so nice to post in a prvious article. Try the killem setup, thats the
one i use although its rough getting through the tri-oval at 202
without backing off a little.

Just a quick question, was that with the weather set at random?  If you
bump it up to 120 degrees, I've gotten a 201.xxx lap without too much
trouble.  But with 80 degree weather my fastest is 198.xxx as well.
(Sorry I can't remember the exact figures now)

At least for my times 0f 198.xxx I was using version 1.21 with
random weather and opponents set at 103%.

version 1.1 for me in a chevy

I was never a fan of racing sims but 4 weeks ago I bought Nascar.
I thought it looked a bit like the British Touring Car racing (great stuff!)
Needless to say I'm one step away from puting it into my autoexec.bat!

I managed a lap of 199.22 with one of the setups from
http://innet.com/~sean/nascar (not killem). The trick seems to be on the last
corner before the finish line - it's a very open corner and if you get as
close to the wall as you dare, turn in early and v.gently (you shouldn't here
much skidding - if any) it's almost as if it's a straight! You need to carry as
much speed through as possible too that looong straight - although my max speed
at the end of that is only 203.

No, you can get 198.xxx lap speeds with the plate still on and
random weather (not the 120 degree cheat with a tailwind) with
version 1.21.  A good setup, a good line, and opponents that
you can actually draft with are all you need.  With opponents
less than 100% you just blow by them, not using the draft at
all.  When you set the opponents at 103 or 104% you should
be able to draft nearly the entire time around the track, only
getting out to pass or get through the tri-oval.

Well I race version 1.2 and my personnel best is with a Chevy on
Goodyear tyres, weather set at 75F, with damage on, around Talladega
is:

198 something  (ristor on)
217.870  (ristor off)
220.778  (ristor off & damage off)

Have fun a catching these.

Ashley.

Car manufacturer doesn't matter in Papyrus NASCAR.  All cars are the same
aerodynamically.  This is evident in the fact that a Pontiac won IWCC
last season. :-))

Without the ristrictor plate, I can average about 220 pmh (for real!)  with the
restrictor plate (Normaly) I can reach 202.163.  E-mail me if you want to race
without the restrictor plate and hit a top speed of 235 mph!!!  (You even have to
use the breaks!!!
