Bulllshit. I bought CPR on ebay for $15. Of course I found out that
it truly sucked and threw it in the garbage where it belongs :-)

I saw it in either walmart or kmart just s few weeks ago here in the
southwest. Don't remember how much, but it's worth whatever you pay. Great
sim. Second to none. Unless you want to race the AI that is....

Is the AI really THAT BAD?  Just asking - I've never seen the program...

Hi Eldred

Yes, the AI in CPR *are* that bad.  Especially on the ovals.  We're talking
probably 10-15 mph slower than you are.  (Or so it seems).  And with the lousy,
dark graphics, many times I couldn't see them until milliseconds before
blasting them.  That killed it for me.  I'm just grateful I picked it up at a
computer show for only 6 bucks.  Had I paid the initial price of $50, I'd have
been *pissed*.

The box said "Windows 95 or better", so I installed LINUX!

The AI's a joke, ruining it as a racing game, but the physics engine is up
there with GPL. Such a pity that they've managed to write a car simulator
of amazing accuracy and subtlety with the best force feedback to date, and
then buried it in a racing game where all the other drivers appear to be
on PCP, or replaced by bricks taped to the accelerators.

I'm quite happy just whittling lap times on an empty track, but you can't
blame people for expecting racing from a "racing" game :)

I wouldn't go that far, it's not a bad physics engine but it's no GPL !!
The FF is very arcadish especially compared to GPL and Viper racing.
The hard to configure wheel settings and the front wheels pushing at low
speed killed it for me.

This was another thing which irritated me. I have a P2-450 with 128MB of
RAM and a 12MB Voodoo2. The framerate in the game was awesome.
However even though I maxed out the draw ahead setting, I *STILL*
would see the stands and cars get drawn fairly close to my car. It
was crazy. I had gotten used to SCGT and GPL which don't have
those problems. It was actually pretty distracting.

The FF on my Logitech FF was *WAY* better than what I expected.
About a year ago I tried a MS FF wheel which cam with CPR. The
FF effects with that wheel on CPR really sucked. Horrible. However
when I recently tried CPR with my Logitech FF USB wheel the FF
was really pretty good. You could feel bumps in the track ect...
Still couldn't feel the front tires loosen up.

I almost think the problems I had with the game crashing after
qualifying was due to FF, since that never happened before
(when I used an old TM T2). Anyway the game does suck...

Well that makes sense, the Logitech wheel works better on a Microsoft game
than a Microsoft wheel !!!  Go figure :)

I might try a Logitech with GPL if I ever see one anywhere :(
