As of last night I finally got into the 8:30s at the ring with an 8:37.99.  My
previous best was an 8:51.xx.  The only difference was I didnt have any big
spins this time.  My only problems was I ran wide in T1 and half spun the car
in the Karrosel (a stupid move...I just gave it too much gas coming out).  I
also lost a couple seconds when I gassed it a little to hard through Ex-Muhle
and got REALLY sideways but managed not to spin.  Hopefully I can run a totally
clean lap tonight and maybe get into the 8:20s.

Taking 13 secs off in one run! Well done! Keep it up, and the 'ring will
reward you.

I broke into the ***s a couple weeks ago in a 11 lap offline race, it
doesn't feel any different than the mid-20s really, I think you just start
looking a little more ahead and becoming more familiar with the track and
car makes you a bit smoother.  It's not at all clear to me how I'll progress
beyond this tho.  I think its like getting below 1:29 at monza.

says...

I think all improvements once you're below 8:20 are pretty slow to come.
The trick is to only go a *tiny* bit faster at each corner, which you
can hardly sense - if you try and go perceptibly quicker it's nearly
always too fast and you end up crashing.

After all to get below 8 minutes you only have to go 4% faster over the
whole lap, which for one corner is only like going 78mph instead of
75mph!

Counter-intuitive as it might seem, you could try stiffening your car
setup.  I used to run soft springs, 5" ride height and soft ARB's.  My
best was an 8:12 with a normal lap coming in around 8:20.  I tried
running max stiffness on the springs, 150 on both ARB's and cutting the
ride height to 4".  To my surprise, I immediately improved to an 8:06
on my first timed lap and went 8:04 a lap later.
