% I've just installed my ACM card into my machine under Win95. Up until now
% I've been using the single game-port on the AWE32.
% The card is working. (I have configured it in DOS and
% The AWE32 is 'pre-configured' to take ports 200-208. (Apparently all of
% them at once!) The ACM is set (via jumpers) for 201 on one out, 209 the
% other.
% My problem is: How do I get the AWE32 to 'give up' a port in its 200-208
% range?
% I tried disabling the port. I tried removing the game-port in software.
% But when I install the TM drivers re-boot the AWE32 port comes back <!!>.
I was able to get Marc going via some tips via e-mail. However, I
wanted to share the knowledge with other so here goes the brief version
of the answer.
One method is to got to Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager ->
Sound, video and game controllers -> Creative Gameport Joystick ->
Properties and uncheck the box where this device is loaded in your
"current" configuration. This will usually turn off the game
controller. However there have been so many version of the Creative
cards this method may not always work.
Thrustmaster has compiled at least 4-5 methods of turning off the game
port on PnP soundcards. http://www.thrustmaster.com/support/pnp.htm
