In the US maybe it doesn't come out till January, I don't know. It's been
out in the UK for about 6 weeks now.

Rally Trophy and TOCA 3 DVD only?

You're not going to want to hear this, but....

DVD has been with us for how long now? two years? Three?

Its called progress.

Cassette tapes were replaced by CD's

Floppy discs were replaced by CD's

Vinyl records were replaced by cassette tapes then CD's

Old (8mm?) films were replaced by video tape.

Now CD's and video's are being replaced by DVD's.

Its not like it was unexpected! Its been on the cards for some time now.

Sooner or later *all* new titles will only be released on DVD. Get used
to it, go out and upgrade your pc. You will not be buying DVD *just* for
that one game, you will be able to use the DVD for other titles too!

You can then enjoy the better quality, faster access and larger storage
space like the rest of us....

8-)

Absolutely.  DVD drives have been out for several years and they are dirt
cheap.  It's about high time games switched to the new format and gave us
MORE STUFF! :)

The problem is that the DVD wastes a lot of space and expense for pc
games and music. I'm sure we'll all "get used to it", but it's still
wasteful at this point to use a more-expensive, 4gig+ media to store
600 megs (or usually less) of data or music. I agee with Dave that it
does offer a little copy protection (for the near future), but with
DVD burners presently dropping into the affordable range and crackers
working like bees, I don't think this will last for long.

If a game were to come out right now offered only on DVD media I
wonder how sales would go? I presume that most people still have their
DVD in the living room. If TOCA3 were only offered on DVD most people
wouldn't go out and buy a DVD for one game. As for me, I'll put one on
the pc when I need one.

calm down.  the game won't be bigger because it's on a DVD, it'll be
on a DVD because it's bigger.  if you have 1GB of data, it makes no
big difference if you full-install from one DVD or two CDs.
