GPL - No Sound!?

by Devo » Wed, 08 Apr 1998 04:00:00

I've got a P200MMX w/ 64MB RAM and integrated SB16 sound.  Diamond
Monster 3DFX.  When I get into GPL I get a bunch of noise.  I go to
options and all the sound boxes are disabled.  The .wav test during
installation was fine...

Any ideas?

I have the EXACT same problem. Sounds test during install was fine also... My
system's a p2-300, M3d, and SB64AWE. The sound boxes are disabled for me too,
although it looks like the highest quality one isn't quite grey'd out, but
won't let me select it.

How about the people who do have sound in the game? Are the sound quality
boxes available to you?

In the sound setup screen try lowering the number of sounds heard.
I raised that number and lost sound , so I lowered it back to 7 and it works
fine now

It only goes down to 3.  Tried it.  No go.  Also, if I go into the race
(with the crazy sound) my keyboard controls do not work.  I've re-
installed the game as well to no avail...

I also had the same problem.  Couldn't select sound, crazy sound, & it
would run DOG-SLOW for about 15 seconds before the screen would lock up,
with the engine sound still going.  I diagnosed it as a sound-card
conflict & went into the options.ini file & disabled the sound.  Works
OK now  :^(  Wish I could get sound!  Not a hit against the sim, though.
My equipment is aging.  This thing looks like a world-beater!!  :^)
