CPR demo: two questions

by David Mast » Mon, 10 Nov 1997 04:00:00

I finally was able to dl the demo.  I have two questions, one which will
certainly look familiar:

1) I type "frame" and see a *reading* of about 15-20 fps on my P133/Stealth64
(no 3D card), 640x480, nearly full screen, etc.  However, it is choppy as all
hell and I'd estimate the real framerate as about TWO.  No matter what I
try, the framerate at 640x480 (nevermind the counter) is unplayable.  Is the
framerate counter just completely out of whack?  Or do I have a particular
setup problem?  I've installed it twice.  I have visibility at 15.  I have
it set for fastest graphics.  If I turn down to 320x400, it gets playable, but
I'd estimate no better than about 12-14 fps with the***pit off.

2) This one will be familiar, and I did check dejanews first:
I have CH Pro Pedals.  I did read the readme and tried what it said (Win95
lists T1/T2 as not connected).  Now I'm asking those who have been at it
longer than I.  What is the best way to set them up?  I also have a GP1, but
up to this point I haven't plugged it in.  I've just using my CH set: F16 CS,
Pro Throttle (not used here), Pro Pedals.

I am sure this is the best you will do. As we have discussed in email,
a 3dfx is a must. I read a post from someone who had a 233mhz CPU
and rendition. I get far better framerate with my P5-166/3dfx. You are
gonna hafta make a move :-) You have no hope with this one without
3dfx. Current Stealth64 drivers are not the answer. I  have a Stealth
3D 3000 and there is no way that card is good enough either. It
doesn't surprise me that their framerate counter is out of whack
either.

Don't know about the Pro pedals as I have a T2.
