I'm curious if anyone else has tried the demo for this program, and if
so what they think of it.

At least it's a breath of fresh air after hours of having your hands
glued to the wheel/joystick trying to keep your car on a rigid driving
line while you lose feeling in your backside.  :-)

It's definitely good for getting one's frustrations out.  The network
play oughta be a riot in the full version.

Lack of sim qualities aside, I'm curious what people think of this
thing.

Its not too bad. Basically spend 2-3 minutes driving round a city running
over pedestrians while trying to drive through a series of five
checkpoints, or trying to destroy the other five competitors.
They seem to have made an attempt at a physics model: ie the car leans
when cornering, dives under braking, etc. Its not very realistic, but is
different for all six cars.
The car you get to drive is pretty average, average top speed, better
than average handling, but is a but easily damaged. The other five have
different characteristics.

Overall its quite good fun, but if you're a die-hard sim fan you'll
probably hate it.

well, it certanly isn't a sim, but I like it a lot. A lot like
Descruction Derby II should have been for the PC.

Plus, they have announced plans for a July patch to add 3dfx support !

True.  I luv the freedom feel too.

True.  Excellent that they're gonna stick loads of different game types in
too.

---------------

Coooel.

True.  It's gonna be released in the UK first according to the press
release I was mailed, in May sometime.  Can't wait.  Check out the patch on
www.avault.com which allows access to the other five cars in the demo
(including the police car).  Also, look out for the babes next to the lake
and the cows in the field.  Details of the game at http://www.sci.co.uk/
