I tried it out, and I think it has a lot of potential, at least it might
give papy a few ideas. The way they handle pitting was pretty neat. There is
almost no pit strategy in N2, at least in Revolution you had a few choices.
I think the loss of potential black flags when entering the pits, so that I
can make some pit choices is a good trade off. I also like the announcers
reporting how I was doing at different parts of the track.

Any of you tried the NASCAR Revolution demo for the upcoming game from EA
Sports.  It has a race at C***te.  As it stands now, it seems very
arcade-style--but it seems to have potential.  It has such things as bumps
in the track and cool engine sounds.  The website says release is intended
for February.  Of course, EA will have to have a helluva a first release to
even come close to Papyrus.  What do you all think?

I also like the "play-by-play" better than just a spotter (though many
of the comments were WAY too cheesy for me).  The engine sounds were MUCH
better than Papy's, the bouncing in the turns was WAY better, the graphics
can't compare (though the popup is pretty distracting - hope that's fixed by
release day).  I wonder if the AI is "tunable" since I don't have a problem
getting up to 8th (and I suck!).  It IS a lot of FUN, but Papy is MUCH more
of a sim (at least with NasRev in THIS state).
I'd also be curious about the extendability of the game.  Papy allows
carset addins, new tracks, etc.  I'd think that with preset tracks and
preset cars, NasRev may not have much longterm appeal.  Don't forget: we're
basically playing N2 after 3 years (or is it 2?)!  Anyway, I doubt NasRev
can last that long...

No pit strategy in N2 ? Can you please explain more ? I haven't saw anything
more in NRev, except some animated pit..  Hey I shall not cross-post this to
the NROS newsgroup or watch out ;-) If N2 doesn't  have any strategy I don't
know why there is plenty of them on the NROS!

p.s.: Nascar revolution is an ARCADE game targeted to an ARCADE mass. The
game engine is lightyears away from the one at Papy.

Ok,
maybe strategy wasn't the best choice of words. Maybe I should have said
options.
In Revolution I have the option of splash and go, how much fuel, tire
pressure, etc.
Alternately it might be more realistic for me, the driver, to tell the pit
chief how the car is
handling, and let him decide what to do to the car. For example the pit menu
might let me
tell the pit that I'm loose coming out of 3, and let them make the
adjustments

I agree that the game itself is no sim, but that doesn't mean that it can't
have some good points that
the sims might want to pay attention to.

This can be done in N2 the crew cheif handles the gas figuring for you he
will put in enough gas to make the finish when you make a pitstop. You can
adjust all 4 tire psi on a pitstop in N2 you can also adjust wedge, and rear
spolier and you can take 4 tires 2 tires and no tires. If you didn't know N2
does this you either don't have the game or haven't played it at all.

You know how much programming that would take to have a thinking Crew chief
in the game.It would have to basicly be a learning AI system to learn your
driving style the differences in chassis's and the differences in tracks at
different temps. Sorry but I doubt we will ever see this for a game atleast.

Only think Nascar Rev. has that papy should think about adding is the
animated pit crew, but I like having control of the car on pitroad myself,
so thats no biggie.
