GeForce3 ti200 and NFS:PU whats the fix?

by Ma » Mon, 11 Mar 2002 12:52:48

I just got a Geforce 3 ti200, it works real well with N2002 but not
for Need for speed Porsche Unleashed. I launch the game, the intro
plays all is fine until after the "loading" screen appears, then I'm
looking at a empty room (where a car should be) and no menu.  I've
tried the nvidia drivers that came on the NFS:PU CD, I've tried
turning fog emulation on on the D3D tab in the display settings,
nothing works. Anybody have this problem or know of a fix?

My system:
850 Tbird (not o/c)
MSI K7T-Pro2A w/ 133 chipset
Win98SE
512 meg of PC133 memory
Geforce 3 ti200 w/ 64 meg memory

TIA
Max

Try turning off anti aliasing in your video card properties. Try newer
Nvidia drivers or even older ones, 12.90 drivers ran it fine for me when I
had a GF2.

Lane,

Ended up using the 21.83 I believe they are WHQL certified (what ever that means)
Thanks

Good. WHQL means "Windows Hardware Quality Labs" and is supposed to mean
that MS has tested and certified them as bug free. But in my experience they
can sometimes be just as buggy as beta drivers that are non-certified. You
just have to try all the versions until you find ones that work well for you
and give the best performance. I used to just go to the Nvidia news group
and read all the posts on the latest drivers and could usually tell from
that which ones were worth trying out. Now I do the same in the ATI
newsgroup. In WinXP you can set the permission level so that no drivers can
be installed unless they are digitally signed and certified by MS. I never
used that option though and just set it to ask my permission first. More
info on WHQL in below url.
