I downloaded RACE demo and when trying to install it hangs early at a DX
install screen? Anyone else have this issue?

Just wait it out.  It can take a couple of minutes before anything
happens.

It's a long process.. but give it 5 mins.. and all should be fine

My installation went fine, but once I start the demo and click on
"options" the sound locks up, loops for a while and then the whole machine
crashes into a bios reset, just like GTR did after a re-installation a
while ago when clicking on "internet". Everything else runs fine (even
GTL and GTR2), so this must be something simbin-related I guess.

Weve now got a bunch of versions of DX9C floating around.  I was using the
Aug version and had issues but the Oct version fixed it.  You might try the
latest version of DX.

I got it thanks. Waiting was the trick. Wow! Very disappointed. Of course I
was skeptical when I saw it was EIDOS. I had hoped for better.

If only. There would still be half a chance I'd buy it if I hadn't
seen the demo.
