I have reinstalled N2 loaded the 3dfx patch and tried to run the 3dfx
bat file I get the fatal error cant load .dll file what the ####. I have
a diamond stealth 2000 4 meg a Monster 3d 4 meg pentium 200 mhz 32 meg
ram. I put all the dll files that came on the monster cd actually put
every file on there into the n2 dir.  there was no glide.ovl file ...no
.ovl files there was a glide.dll file amongst others they all went into
the N2 directory?  Is there a URL where someone could help me?

The glide file should be in your Windows directory. Did you know Windows got a
search option implemented...? Just type 'glide2x.ovl' (or whatever it is
called: I'm sitting behind an Apple now so I can't check) in the appropriate
field and the computer will tell you where the file is! Isn't life wonderful?!
After that the game should work. I had the same 'problem'.

To get nas3dfx.exe to run you *must* have glide2x.dll v2.43+ in the
\nascar2 subdir. If you run it in DOS, go ahead and place glide2x.ovl
and fxmemmap.vxd there too. Now it will run and looks pretty kewl.

I use the Hercules Stingray 128/3D (voodoo rush), but that's not
important.
You can d/l the glide files (v2.43) from:

www.3dfx.com    and   www.op3dfx.com

I use the RUSH glide versions of 2.43, you'd use the non-RUSH voodoo
versions since you have a Monster 3D.

Extract the file with -d option and find the correct voodoo version of
glide2x.dll  Put it in your Nascar2 directory and 3dfx will work. It
looks really good too!

I recommend these settings to your nas3dfx.bat file for enhanced
speed.

SET N2FXAA=2
SET N2FXLOAD=0X200000
NAS3DFX.EXE

In the game, turn OFF "skids/paint". Much faster now...

The name of the file you want to put in your n2 dir for the missing
dll error is glide2x.ovl If you try to run Grand Theft Auto in 3dfx
mode you will get the same error and the solution will be the same.
You'll find it somewhere on your Monster 3d  installation disc. Just
do a find all files and search for glide2x.ovl.

The first patch had some problems. they have a second one out that works much
better. It took care of the same problems for me.
