That's a one time thing really as the first race of the season is Sat.. In
another day or two the amount of posts will be cut waaay down.

The thing is, RASCAR is for people who read this newsgroup, so if it's
arrangement isn't posted here then how do it's readers (especially it's
semi-regulars) get the opportunity to hear about it and join in? Some new
faces have joined simply because of the posts arranging the new season.

your sierra ID !!"

Don't you think it would be a good idea to do it the "gpl rally" way ?

They have set up a special forum just for that, they come here, annouce
"season is open" and then give you the link to their forum...

I think it's much better for everybody, the people looking for "RASCAR
specific stuff" go to this forum and in the NG the topics are more "general"
which of course does not prevent AT ALL John and the other RASCAR guys to
mention new stuff, dates, deadlines and so on, but why develop them here
instead of doing this in a nice forum where you could have screenshots,
setups, tweaks....

Yes, it's simple enough, but people love to whine!

It's RAS affiliated.

You use up bandwidth by being too lazy to cut unnecessary text from your

Isn't that GPL Rally just a one time thing? I don't know anything about  it.

I think Ed Solheim is setting up a RASCAR page with a forum that is going to
be ready any day now. Then just the general stuff will be posted here like
you suggest. RASCAR posts only bothered people for a bit last year when it
was first being organized too. After that, the posts weren't that often at
all.

As has been said many times, if people just used their filter then this
isn't an issue. I used to see posts all the time about GPL races (and league
races) that I had no interest in but I just didn't read them. Sometimes I
did. I didn't complain about them though.

Right, but the other leagues aren't the officially sanctioned stock
car league of rec.autos.simulators.

So, really, even tho I have no interest in reading most of those
threads, they're still on topic. =)

The gpl rally is 16 stages through the year, they make new tracks for each
stage, you download it, you drive it, you send your times....if only I had
the time !!!

I don't want to filter because sometimes there are interesting post with
RASCAR or from the admins, but I'd rather not have EVERYTHING we've been
having lately.

Now if they are fixing a web page soon then it's perfect and surely problems
like that won't happen again, and I hope you guys beat the ***out of each
other racing those ovals !!!

You've caught up!

Yep - agree with that. This was never a Papy Nascar sim only league IMO. Indeed
there were RAS passworded LFS races as I recall which all come under the same
umbrella. Like a motor club with various events to discuss and organise (and
gossip about)

The registration and roster bit adds some degree of scope for keeping out
wreckers who stumble across ras, and to feed John's obsession for painting cars
and car numbers.

Cheers

Yes, I hosted an ras server for LFS the week after the demo was first
released.  There were a couple of others too. If a sim has good online play
then people here at ras could do the same thing we're doing with N2003.
