Codemasters' Indycar?

One of the ORIGINAL reasons they split was because CART h/w was too
'spensive.  Now the IRL cars are so 'spensive they can't fill the grids.

field will include dangerous backmarkers.

Remember: it's not just an IRL game...it's a *Codemasters* IRL game....

Yup, I don't follow the IRL that closely through out the year on TV,
but I haven't missed a race yet at Texas in 2 years.  Really exciting
to watch in person.  I bet if I had an IRL game that was somewhat
close to N2003 I would probably be a little more into the IRL.

C'mon Dave, venomous IRL-bashing is so 1998! ;)

Besides, when casting stones, just as many can be deflected over CART's
way too.

Admit it, you're just grumpy because there hasn't been a Viper presence
in the IRL since the GTS paced Indy in '96, while CART presumably still
utilizes their Viper Pace Car to waste track time in the schedule
scaring rich sponsor-types. :D

Yeah, but for diffrent reasons. The IRL is a tool for power play while
CART is a victim of it. :)

It's only Fords now in CART.

Not for what I was actually talking about... :)

http://www.cart.com/Paceteam/Cars.asp

The remnants of the old PPG Pace Car program, which wastes hours of
track time during the weekend schedule (enough to host another support
series).

Well, the only other game I have by them is Toca2.  I tried the demo first.  On
*my* system, the damn thing was uncontrollable.  Almost every time I turned a
sharp corner, the car would snap-spin.  It totally turned me off to the
program.  After some people here said the retail was much better, I bought
it(bargain bin by then).  I was able to get a little better response in the
retail version, but I could never drive it confidently.  And again, based on
Toca2 I can't trust the demo at ALL.  So, I don't have much confidence in
Codemasters.  I'd have rather seen *EA Sports* do it - I'd consider that a
better program.
We'll see...

I got to see those pace cars at Portland several years ago.   Man are
those paintjobs expensive!  It pained me to see the Viper leading the best
field the devil's money could buy.  Anyone see the connection?
:)

thanks jd for always putting me in my place!

Hmm. Well, I was trying to answer your question, but I think I was
wrong. It was my understanding that the pace car program would be
Fords only aswell. :)

Tehehe.  Just look at those Half-Life 2 screenshots, they use lighting and
pastel colour palettes to diffuse the light.  Just like in real-life.  Just
like GPL :)

Jeez Dave,

Lighten up!!!
Most people were over the split 3-5 years ago already, yeesh!

And... As things stand now, the IRL is more CART-like than CART itself!

CART=Spec cars, Spec Engines, Spec Tires, Subsided teams, and ride-buying
foreign drivers (sort of what the IRL looked like 5 years ago)

And... Once the IRL adds a few road races (which even Roger Penske predicts
by 2004-2005) the IRL will have truly become what CART was.
