A few FYI's related to this thread:

First, I think it has already been mentioned that the DC list price is to be
reduced to $99.95 starting Feb 4.

As is already well known, Sega announed they are getting out of the hardware
business, but claims they will continue to make games for the DC.  Whether the
latter is true or not, I can't say.  But if there is already a critical mass
of games that catch you interested (well, F355 looks to be a damned good
start), then it might be worth it even if they drop all support.

Third, Best Buy (at least my local one) reduced the price of F355 from $50 to
$25.  Sega GT (a Gran Turismo clone, though it doesn't get the same
universally positive reviews) was reduced to, I believe, $30.

Fourth, Best Buy has a price matching policy.  Looks like you can save an
additional $5 if you buy it now and find a $99.95 price later.

BTW, I don't have it yet, but I'll probably pick it up...

We can only hope that with Sega getting into the software side of things
that they do a PC version of this great game!! It would be even better if
they did an enhanced version with qualifying, longer races, more opponents,
and, most of all, network multiplayer racing support!!!

PLEASE SEGA ANSWER MY REQUESTS!!!

F355 is the most realistic sim I have ever played on a console, and the
graphics are better than all but a couple of PC sims. The physics model is also
better than all but two or three of the best PC sims ( GPL, Viper racing,
Nascar Heat). The physics are certainly superior to SCGT, which is still quite
popular among pc sim devotees. The worst part of this game is the lack of a
decent replay option to review your awesome racing feats( they use some lousy
replay "digest" which just shows replay highlights), which really takes alot
away from the game for me. However, if replays are not that important to you
then this game is well worth the money, only Gran Tourismo is as good among
console racers.

  No real***pit view...(that I'm aware of)  Can't drive a sim if I can't
sit
in the 'office'(not that I can drive ANY sim :>   )

Just got it today (with an opened DC for $80).

You are viewing from the***pit.  There's a bit of dash and wheel showing,
just a bit.  The gauges though are heads up ala arcade.

I too miss the replay view.  The graphics are nice enough that I'd want to see
a GT-like replay.

Don't know if the replayability is good enough to warrant purchasing a DC for
essentially this game (I also picked up Sega GT though recognizing it hasn't
been generally received as weel as Gran Turismo).

Main gripe is probably using the std controller for all of steering, accel,
braking, shifting.  Having the brake and steering done by one hand gets pretty
busy.
