I am wanting to buy a new racing sim, and don't know which to get.
What is the best racing sim out there, I already have Nascar2.
I've heard good things and bad things about NFSII.
Would appreciate any responses.

NFS2 is 100% arcade, it's not a sim at all. NFS 1 was a much more
realistic sim than NFS2. The NFS2 cars suck (not realistic an they all
feel exactly the same), the tracks are boring, frame rate sucks, lousy
graphics (the "moving backwards at high speed" effect that many have
noted), etc. NFS 1 or SE, on the other hand, is an excelent driving
game that you should now be able to find cheap, and you'll have a lot
of fun with it.

Interstate 76 is a very cool game. Awesome music. Great sounds. Ok
graphics. awesome gameplay. I haven't had the chance to play it for a long
time yet but by the look of doing a 'Trip' it is a very looong game. It is
a very good driving game as well as been a great shoot 'em up. I have a
feeling that playing an 8 player network game on either game would be
awesome (aren't they always) but I76 would have that slight advantage
especially with the Internet play.
I just wish I had a good enough computer to play both games (486/Dx266).
Oh well just my $0.02 worth

different vehicles, wach with their onw feel), great fighting,

100% Agree Joe, NFS2 came out last week in UK so I went down and bought
it(I shopped around for the cheapest source, I am glad I did now), I
totally agree with what you are saying, I miss the cop car, and one other
thing lacking was that feeling of chasing after the computer car on the
road courses, not just tracks that go round and round I miss track's like
the Alpine and Coast tracks of
NFS/NFS SE it was quite cool just to cruise along road courses and just
have fun with the car pulling donuts, and hand brake tricks etc :-) and you
just IMHO cannot do such good donuts and hand brake tricks with NFS2, and
the cars had a more fluid feel when driving them in NFS / NFS SE.
I agree with you about boring tracks, even the hidden extra track Hollywood
one is boring just like the rest of the tracks, To my mind I don't even
have a favourite unlike with NFS / NFS SE they all had different feel to
the tracks and road courses.
And with my 100MHZ Pentium and a slow old No.9 GFX card NFS / NFS SE gave
a fair impression of speed but with NFS2 slow down city
, sure the GFX of the new cars is cool and sounds of the cars are good
(except the F50 using the old Ferrari sound of NFS/NFS SE, An F50 sound
more like a F1 racing car that the engine is based and basically is of the
I think an '93 F1 car), Is it me or are the video's of the car shorter in
the Specifications section than the NFS / NFS SE videos and to have one of
them missing in NFS2 is real silly(I cannot remember of the top of my head
which one it was)
IMHO NFS2 is basically to appeal to Playstation owners rather PC owners, In
an Idea situation they should have given the Playstation other the current
NFS2 and had a more simulation based NFS2 fot the PC version (I know that
would have cost more to develop but I bet EA don't do such good sales with
NFS2 than they did with NFS / NFS SE) that would have been good.
