I tried "print screen" but that shows just a black box when pasted in
another program (paint shop 5 or Powerpoint).

You do need to use the print screen button. Af file named GPLSSxx.pbf is
then created in your GPL directory. You need to drag it over the
pbftotga.exe program located in the same directory. This creates GPLSSxx.tga
which you can then edit in your favourite editing package.

I believe you need to use Shift-PrintScreen to put the screen shot into
the cut buffer.

Hitting just PrintScreen by itself will create a file named gplss##.pbf
in GPL's home directory (which you can then drag onto pbf2tga.exe in
the same directory to convert it to a .tga (Targa) file).
