I'm with you. Bruce -- while Clermont-Ferrand is a very cool venue,
Reims was unique -- a battle of men and machines against extremes of
speed and godawful heat. Many epic battles were fought there: Fangio and
Hawthorn, Baghetti's first win, and dozens of very hard wars of
attrition. In addition, if someone were to be so kind and clever as to
use the GPL engine as a basis for a sportscar sim (PLEASE!!), Reims
hosted a unique endurance event in that era that started at midnight --
on one of the fastest tracks in Europe.  Would be nice...

Being pedantic, Reims was used in 1966 - the first year of the 3 litre
format. Obviously not all of the cars had 3 litre engines for that race
though.

Cheers,
Richard

Would be totally wonderful, Bart.

I also like to think that Papyrus would certainly not lose any existing GPL
customers if they added "packs" to the sim. Most of the development costs
would have been booked against GPL and, therfore, return on expenditure
would be certainly better with the add-ons.

This "game" could have a life far in excess of anything else either previous
or current: A 1950's F1 pack; a 1.5 litre Era pack; a mid-sixties Sports
Prototype pack; a Can-Am pack........man alive, the possibilities make this
old mind boggle!! :o)

Rouen is absolutely _NOTHING_like Reims....apart from the type of French
asphalt used to surface it.

Not pedantic at all, Richard.....I simply didn't recall that one!  Thanks.
(The 1968 race is the one that sticks in my mind because of Schlesser's
death.)

Reims is an entirely different track from Rouen, the track of the
famed corner leading onto the pit straight - it should be on forix if
you like to check.

Cheers!

Could one of our French-speaking colleagues please confirm the correct
pronunciation of "Rheims"?

I have heard it referred to (not by a Francophile) as "RHEM", yet have also
heard it pronounced as "REEMS".
