I have experimented a bit with this, I have found no speed difference
whatsoever by changing a bit before the red mark. Your gearing is way more
important than using the last 400 revs of your engine. Besides, your
engine will last when you do so, even the Ford of the Lotus...
If you're talking about that perfect hotlap setting a new world record,
you might consider using the engine up to the redmark, I'd say you might
scratch off max a tenth using the upper 400 revs. That tenth isn't worth
it when you're racing though, nothing is as frustrating as engine
failures...
