Some more dumping on CPR

In two years of reading this newsgroup I have never seen such a negative
response to a new release. GP2 copped a bit but nothing like CPR. I have
read posts saying it is because its a M$ product, but I find that a bit hard
to believe. Nearly every negative posting started with " I really wanted to
like this game.". I am the same I really wanted to like this game. I love
race sims. I dont care what kind they are as long as their good, as good as
they can be with the technology available.
The thing is there have been many really bad race games that dont even get
a mention here and the reason is because they were not expected to be any
good so they are just passed over. CPR however was HYPED really hyped I for
one followed the development ogled the screen shots and read anything I
could find about it.
This is why I for one was so disappointed This was meant to be the one, the
sim we had all been waiting for the new mark.  It is none of these things
and if it wasn't for the hype and the cart teams presents on ras then It too
would have been passed over as just another arcade racer.
There is a lesson I think for other developers. The sign on the door says
rec Autos.Simulators If you are not toting the best simulator you can
produce with the technology available then dont bother knocking.

Todd,

I havent purchased or downloaded this game at all.  So I neither can
support or detract from it.  But I have to tell ya... with all this
bickering It really has peaked my curiosity about it.  The way some
people talk on here it they make it sound like Microsoft stole and
repackaged Pole Position with a virus attached!!! ;)

I might have to buy the damn game after the patch just see what
everybody is ***ing about =)

That doesnt change the fact the people are attacking an individual over
a piece of software that is meant for enjoyement.  Its not like your
house will blow up, you will lose your job, and they are gonna repossess
your car if the software package doesnt perform!! It IS just a piece of
entertainment.  Granted.. I love sim racing too..... but come on, it
really isnt worth getting downright *** and hostile over.

"Can't we all just get along?" ;)

Not as long as there are people here who are more interested in
running other people down than they are with having a civil
discussion.

"When everybody thinks the same, nobody thinks."
I'm just thankful for this newsgroup. Warts and all.
