N3 adding Tale no plate track

I wanted to add an extra Talladega track for racing without the restrictor
plates,
So I thought , should be easy enough, just add another folder in the
tracks dir. with a different name, I called it deganp, then copied
all the files in the talladega folder to deganp, re-named the talledega.dat
and talledega.txt to deganp.dat and deganp.txt,
edit the deganp.txt lines TNAME and SNAME to Talladega no Plates
and SPDWY 1 45 48 to 0 45 48.
add it to my all.cal and it should work.
Or so I thought, but when I try to load the track I get an error message,
unable to load full track description.
anyone got any ideas on what other changes I need to make to get
my new track working.

Thanks in advance
Mark

You need to change the correct files inside your .dat  file

Why not just add another line to your all.cal that has the plate column
set to 0 instead of 1.  Just don't forget the date and when you cycle thru
your track selections, just pick THAT one.  Apparently you know the .cal
file well enough to know which column is the restrictor plate column.

I used a short batch file and an edited taladega.txt file named
noplate.txt for running without the plate - the batch file renames
taladega.txt to plateon.txt then renames noplate.txt to taladega.txt -
another batch file switches them back - quick and easy, just have to
decide which you want to run before launching N3

there is a little program called N3 Companion, simply put a check mark in
the no plates box and go racin, it's a small and simple program, only takes
a couple of seconds to do it ,  go here and follow the utilities link  ,

Ok this sounds promising. I unpacked the .DAT and found 5 files called
TALLADEGA,
a .TRK, .SCR, .PCK, .CAM and .3DO, I renamed all these and repacked the
DAT,
but get the same result when loading the track.
I don't suppose you would be prepared to be a bit more specific.

Thanks to everyone else that answered, but I want a track that works as if
it was included in the game as standard.

Ah.  You need to open your taladega.pck with an editor (like notepad) and
change them in it also.

It's ok I worked it out, you need to edit the .pck in note pad
before repacking the .dat

Thanks Mark
