Jan's Quickfix or Nascar Racing Secrets

by Douglas Worthingt » Sun, 23 Nov 1997 04:00:00

Hello,

I was looking through the book NASCAR racing strategies and Secrets
and I noticed their solutions to handling problems are exactly the
opposite from Jan's Quickfix guide.  I realize the book is Nascar 1,
but I wouldn't think the games are that different.  Which is right?

thanks

This is just a shot in the dark.  Could this have to do with the
infamous "traction bug" in NASCAR 1?  Maybe they worked on setting up
the car early in the session before the traction bug went away.  Then
again maybe they weren't aware of the bug when the book was published
and this was how they handled the problem.

..If I am not mistaken for Nascar1 they worked for what ever reason but
they are backwards.I the one for Nascar2 is right.I do belive it had
something to do with the physics model in Nascar1

Yup, I remeber very clearly cause I have the quick fix guide right in
front of me and it even has *ed notations of what is reversed from a
real car due to reversal of physics in the sim code. That drove me
nuts till found out about the model probs as none of the settings I
would try for curing push or loose worked till went opposite of what
made sense.

Jan's Quickfix or Nascar Racing Secrets

Crash...
If I remeber correctly, there was a bug in NASCAR1 that effectively reversed
certain aspects of setting up a car. I had Jan's Guide, and seem to remember
some note that explained that the Guide's solutions were actually opposite of
what would be done in "real life", but, because of the bug, this was the way
to attack your problem. Presumably that bug was addressed in NASCAR2, so the
two versions of the Guide would seem to be in conflict. Maybe one of the
heavyweights of our group can confirm on deny this theory (I wish I still had
my NCR1 stuff<G>)....
