Hi Don,

Do yourself a favor and get a 3d-card (even a cheap Rendition v1K).
You'll get tons of comments about this, that, and the other of
which sim is best (lots of good ones), but it all comes down to a
matter of opinion - it's whatever turns your crank - and you can't
get that from a newsgroup thread.

FWIW, get one of the Rendition cards that has ICR2-3D bundled-in,
and by the time you get-over the fluid_frame_rate and 16-bit images,
you'll have something better to guage the next-generation of 3D-
enhanced sims.

BTW, that $60-bucks you would spend on CPR, is just about the cost of
a v1000 Rendition card...Pretty good deal!  =)

Cheers!

Marc

If you are at all satisfied with ICR2 I'd stick with that.  Yes, I think CPR
will run on your machine, but not very well.  Others may disagree, but
there's a lot of frustration between opening the box and satisfaction for
most, I think.  I've taken it off my hard drive for now.

Marc is absolutely right -- there are people who enjoy CPR (though most
of them seem to enjoy it online, head-to-head, rather than driving
against the sim's errr...quirky, I guess...AI). Try to buy it from a
place that will refund your money if you find it to be a dog. I'm pretty
sure some of the online software stores will do that, and MS itself is
reputed to have a money-back guarantee.

Quite frankly, ICR-II (now known as CART), is an excellent sim, IM
(very) HO -- I'd take Marc's advice: buy a decent, inexpensive board
(another choice might be the Diamond Stealth S220), and try a couple of
sims. The CPR demo, BTW, won't tell you diddly-squat about the current,
unfinished, state of the sim.

Good luck!

I've heard both good and bad about CPR, and I don't
want to drop 60.00 on a game that won't run on my
pc.  I've got a P166 with 32mb ram, and no 3d
graphics accelerator.  Is there any chance it'll run,
or should I stick with ICR2?

Any help is appreciated!

Stick with ICR2 for now.  You'll do much better in terms of
performance, and perhaps by the time a new version of CPR or Papyrus
CART comes out, your system will be able to run it well, and of course
there are a lot of AI problems in CPR that I think would make the
experience less enjoyable for you anyway...

The best thing you can do is take the time to download
the demo version from Micrsoft's site... if you don't want
to wait for a 13 meg download, pick of the latest issue
of PC Gamer (I think - one of those rags has the demo
on CD this month...).

The demo will give you a very good idea of how the game
will run for you.

Also, $60? Where do you shop? I've seen it advertised
for $40 with a $20 rebate making your net cost $20...
I think it's worth that... Well, personally, I think it's worth
$40 (no flames please - just my opinon), but I doubt I'd
pay $60...

Well, it will at least give you an idea of how the game will run
on a given system... at least, that was my experience...

If your not interested in ovals it may be ok.
