HELP! GPL Crashes??

by M. Llewelly » Thu, 01 Apr 1999 04:00:00

PLEASE help if u can:
Just bought GPL BUT cannot play -crashes machine.  I skips rt past 1st
Screen to Player Info Screen, I type my name, move my mouse, and CRASH (3X's
now - I have uninstalled and defragged until get help).
   My System:
                        W'98; IE 5.0; Direct X 6.1; PII 400; 128 MB SDRAM;
6.4GB HD; ATI Expert'98 8MB AGP2X; Diamond Monstor 2 VoodooII 12MB; (2.54
Driver); PS2 compat. Mouse; MS FF Sidewinder Pro Joystick.

(PS - the demo would crash when I touched my joystick which is digital -
thought retail version would be different but mouse movement so far crashes
it - have not even got to Joystick screen)

One added thing which MAY or MAY NOT mean anything - when I was installing
it told me that my version of Active Movie was newer than their Version - I
needed to uninstall the newer version and then run setup again.  I did not
do this - later I tried to find "Active Movie or Active Player" on my HD but
could not locate it anyway - I think it is part of IE 5.0?????

TKS 4 any help, hate to take another unplayable Sierra Product back,
Michael

I am pretty sure that your problems are tied to the 2.54 drivers for the
Voodoo2.  You should be able to get GPL running and keep the 2.54
drivers by downloading the glide 2.53 file and placing it in your GPL
folder.  http://www.grandprix2.com/gpl/patches/glide2x_253.zip

I think Glide 2.54 is your problem.Try getting Glide 2.53 and drop in your
GPL directory.Other games will use 2.54 but GPL will use 2.53.
