UPDATE SB Live vs Diamind MX399 in N3

by Kaydma » Sat, 18 Sep 1999 04:00:00

After downloading a 14mb updated driver file for the Diamond sound
card it performed miracles for the game.  A definite must!!!!!!!  SB
Live does NOT compare!!  With the immersive sound in this game it's now
FUN to play even though the cars drive like they do.

Getting the Diamond to work properly was a real pain in the (&*.
Removing the SB Live software was a problem that took some time.  It
left resident programing that conflicted with the MX300 and the
combination of things kept interfering with my PDPI operation also.
Every time I would boot up I had to reinstall the drivers for the MX300
to get it and my PDPI to work.  Not fun but worth all the effort!!!!!!

I strongly recommend the MX300 if you wish to enjoy this game, it's
the best part of it!

I just got this card and the install quits at 67%.  So I need the new
software. Where did you get this 14mb file. All I see is a 2.58mb file
version for the MII card version : 4.10.01.0207

Thanks
Rick

Rick,

Try this site.
http://www.vortexofsound.com/download.htm
That is link to their d/l page.  Pick drivers and go from there.
They also have a ton of good info on the MX300, (and other cards)
The 2035 Aureal drivers were way late in coming, but they do address a
ton of problems and are a must for MX300 users.
