Good luck to you Dave but I sure hope this is not AMD's official
replacement policy.  As consumers of their products we are the ones
paying for the replacement chip.

Like I said, good luck to you and I don't begrudge you as I know
you're a fine upstanding citizen but I'll be damned if I want to be
paying to support O/C'ers who get carried away and toast their nice
new chip in the quest for .00033 extra FPS in Q3 NV15....

Like I said, good luck to you and I don't begrudge you as I know
  Thanks, as far as overclockers go...I would guess that most of them do NOT
by the boxed processors but rather go for the OEM chips.  These have a much
shorter warranty and usually manufacturers don't even deal with OEM
warranty's, it's all covered by the retail outlets.
  In my case, I fried the chip not form O/c ing it but sheer stupidity...I
would guess the reason AMD so readily agreed to replace it is due to the
extremely fragile nature of the chip regarding heat.  Cheaper to take care
of a few bumblers like me than to face a hoard of disgruntled lawyers.

Ahhh, not such a problem in Australia...  Agreed a little corpate
goodwill can go a long way.
