ActLabs Shifter and N4

by BRH » Mon, 05 Nov 2001 23:43:04

For some reason, my previous posts about this question didn't post.  (At
least I don't see them...)  So, if this is a duplicate, I apologize in
advance:

Although I've gotten the ActLabs USB Shifter to work with GPL and CM2, I
can't get it to work with N4.  (Haven't gotten around to other sims
yet...)

I have the shifter utility set at H-Plate with 4 gears, and have set-up
each individual gear within N4.  I can get going using the shifter (ie -
the gas works), but my brake pedal is non-functional.  It's not a
hardware problem, as the pedal works in other sims with no problem.

I have tried re-calibrating controllers within N4, but then the car
doesn't move at all (meaning that the gas works, but the car stays in
place, so I can't tell if the brake is working).

Here's my set-up: LWFF on ID#1; Shifter on ID#2; TSW pedals (split-axis)
in ID#3.  This set-up works fine in GPL.

Does anyone have a set-up similar to mine and is using it successfully
in N4?  Any suggestions on getting this to work properly (ie - having
all pedals work) in N4 would be appreciated.

Make sure you choose the "Direct Driver" in the Nascar 4 ---> "Options"
---> "controls" screen.. It won't work with the "Optimized" driver..
Good Luck!
