N2 newbie questions

I just picked up N2 today. Really impressive. Unfortunatly I'm a bit
undercomputered (Packard Bell P75)to run it properly. I do have a few
questions about the game.

1. I d/l the 2 Papyrus updates. Both seemed to go well except they ended
with the same message "NC***.DAT  file not found. file with same name
was located but contents did not match so file was not updated". Or
something very close to that. Did the patch end prematurely, or was that
the last file to be patched. I installed N2 via DOS and the only thing I
did prior to the updates was save a replay at Martinsville.

2. Does the Blaster 3D card have the Rendition chip? There is a returned
one on sale at Best Buys. My current computer's MB will only go to a
P100. And I can't afford an entire upgrade right now. But if the Blaster
3D will let me run more detail it would be nice. Plus when I do get the
fixens for a new computer it can be moved over the the "good" one.

That's all I can think of at the moment! I've had just about very racing
sim made with the exception of GP2. But since I grew up going to a tight
1/4 track in southern California, the small ovals are what I enjoy most.
Looking forward to the expansion set.
I'll make my own All-Pro series.

Now all I need to do is convert my ICR2 IMS over to N2. But I'll try
that on my own before asking any more questions!<G>

The Blaster 3D is not a "Rendition board" I made the same mistake
thinking it was and although it is a decent board, my STB LS 128 is
faster in 2D. The board you really want is the Intergraph or the Sierra
Screamin 3D as they both come with the Rendition version of ICR2.

Umm...... Actually creative labs does have a rendition board it's called
the 3D Blaster PCI. Check the box because they also make a non-rendition
card which(I'm not sure)maybe called the Blaster 3D. Look at the back of
the box it should make mention of it being rendition or using the verite
chip. If it doesn't stay away, it wont help you.

Yes the 3D Blaster has a Redition chipset providing it is the
3D Blaster PCI version and NOT the older Vesa-Local Bus model.
