Dunno if anyone here doesn't have GPL, but noticed a store around the
corner has GPL on the shelf, advertising the cost as $0 after some sorta
rebate.

Check the date on that rebate offer carefully. We got some copies in where I
work and they had rebate stickers on them that expired as of 1999...8^).
