LeMans For SCGT ?

by Jay » Tue, 19 Jun 2001 11:05:23

Does anyone know if the Sarthe circuit exists for SCGT? After watching most
of the coverage on Speedvision this weekend, I'm really itching to give it a
go in a Sportscar.

I've got the GPL version, and it's loads of fun, but didn't know if anyone
had done up a version for SCGT.

Thanks!

AND - if anyone does do it for SCGT - it's not a lot of work to then convert
for WSC

I'd be interested too.  I thought the same thought after watching the race
on Eurosport all weekend.  I haven't touched SCGT for about 6-9 months now
and visited alot of my old SCGT haunts - most of them are now offline.  Does
someone have some good sites to visit for cars.  Ideally to get the SCGT Le
Mans feel we need the track and some car conversions - are there any LMP900,
LMP675 and GTS conversions?  I've seen loads of Le Mans series Porsche 911
GT2/3 and Viper conversions, but are there any Audi, Cadillac,
Chrysler-Mopar, etc. conversions and perhaps a Corvette and Saleen?

Perhaps someone should group the lot into a Le Mans patch?

There should be at least two versions of the ALMS patch, (1999 & 2000)
that include many of the Le Mans cars.  I haven't done the SCGT thing for
awhile so I don't know the status of the current carsets...but Reynards,
Audi R8's and other LMP cars were available.  Check speedsims.com or the
blackholemotorsports forums for more info.

There is a Beta version at MakingTracks.  But I've never been able to make
it work.

Just a thought I realise it's heresy on to mention it on this NG but the
Dreamcast version of TestDrive: LeMans is very good.  It was coded by
Melbourne House who did an excellent job, and are doing the PS2 version out
in a month The graphics, FPS and cars are all excellent.  (There is no
damage, limited set up and some questionable physics but still.)  It is
completely different from the PC version (which was just a really bad PS
port).  It has a lot of accurate real world tracks Brno, Donnington (again)
Suzuka (again) (Parenthetically, I think it's a toss up which track I have
the most in all my console and PC games Suzuka or Laguna Seca. I must have
about 17 iterations of both of them.  Love them all though.)  Best of all it
has an inch perfect rendition of the 2000 La Sarthe.

Just a thought for the group but how hard would it be to convert a Dreamcast
track, I know it's media is GD-ROM but it does run on Windows CE.  Just a
thought, because they are very nice tracks.

Melborne House...they used to make Amiga products...a very good, for it's
day, of Lord of the Rings.
You could walk screen by screen through ALL of Middle Earth...via
floppies...man that takes a while...and it had a semi RTS wargame at the
end..

And the PS2 version of LeMans 24 Hours, out in Europe already but not
in the U.S. for 2-4 more weeks, besides the above mentioned tracks and
Catalunya, have added Road Atlanta now.  Cars are 2000 season, but I
hear there are also some older cars added as well.
