% Well, I am not getting 30fps either. The way you talked in the original post
% sounded like your framerate was so bad that the car was hard to drive. As it
% is I would think that I am getting slightly over 20fps on my system except
% in the trouble spots you mention above.
But, with a car that is as delicate as the GP, 30 fps is really required
to fully control the car. My point, is that many people are complaining
about the "icey" feeling and I really think it is tied to the fact that
the demo has been optimized graphically yet. I remember the good ole
days and running with hardly any detail in ICR2. The same frustration
was there. But once I popped in my Rendition card and got close to 30
fps all the way around (with full detail <G>). I found it very easy to
finely control the car.
The m***of the story is, for you folks having trouble controlling the
car in GPL, try lowering the screen resolution or cutting down some of
the detail. I then think you will be able to appreciate the core of
this sim.
BTW: I do receive a better frame rate with my Voodoo2, but the graphics
aren't near is "clean". Here's hoping Papy can coax an extra 10-15 fps
out of the graphics engine.
