DD2 & Win95 Problem

by Chris McEv » Wed, 15 Jan 1997 04:00:00

Having purchased Destruction Derby 2, I am having major problems getting the
game to run in Win95.  When I run the game I get the error:

Fatal Error: Destruction Derby 2 CD required

even when the CD is in the drive.  The game works fine in DOS, but I want to
sample some of that DirectX wizardry :)

I have tried emailing Psygnosis, but their technical support is non-existant.
Any one else had this problem, and know how to solve it?  Is it to do with my
video card (I have a Stealth 3D2000)?

The easiest fix I could find was the following from a guy nicknamed
'ghozt':

Using any hex editor find the following hex number sequence in the
executable you want to play.  (dd2.exe is the low-res version, dd2h.exe
is the hi-res version):

dd2.exe:
E8 2E 36 00 00 85 C0 75 1E 6A 10

dd2h.exe:
E8 3E 36 00 00 85 C0 75 1E 6A 10

Just change the hex number 75 to EB, save the file back to your hard
drive, and they should work now.  I don't know why PSYGNOSIS never made
a fix for this problem.  I hope this helps.
