Noticed a mention in May's PC Zone for May release.

Anyone know anything about it?

As its title suggests, it's an anthology of EA's excellent F1 series (from
'99 to '02; the GTR2002 mod is based the latter), as originally developed by
ISI, now tweaked by them (with input from some the community's heaviest
hitters) and released as their road-racing swan song before they turn their
attention to NASCAR racing.  (In case you've been in a no-fly zone, Papyrus'
NR2003 is *their* stock car swan song, as they lost the whole NASCAR
franchise to EA.)  I signed a NDA, but I think I can consolidate this much
already-public info.  If not, I'm sure I'll hear from their lawyers.
Anyway, it's gonna be great.

Right, so who's picking up the F1 license?
Please don't say Crammond.

I think the answer is nobody for the PC - there will be PS2 titles I'm sure

So, are you suggesting that there is nothing new?  The PC Zone feature
suggests otherwise with new damage modelling and multiplayer options.
Could be hype of course!

There are tweaks and improvements, but it is basically what F12003 would
have been, with a career mode added in.  Very much an incremental
improvement on the already well-regarded (if for no other reason than the
mods!!!!) F12002.  There is a mod already in development for the new title
(by the same people who did GTR2002) and it will be worth the purchase price
just for that!

If they include multiplayer AI and non-poly collision it could be very good
for our F1 LAN championship :)

I'll not hold my breath on the multi-AI though :/

One presumes EA put extra money on the table for an exclusive.  Apparently,
this gambit hasn't reached Bernie yet.

I'm not suggesting anything of the sort!  OTOH, the NDA prevents me from
specifying anything to the contrary.  Surely, this isn't too difficult to
disencrypt....

F1 2002 / GTR2002 would be great *if* it had an internet-worthy multiplayer
code...

(not making any suggestions ;))

"Ashley McConnell"
I frankly would be very suprised if EA allocated ANY money for
multiplayer improvements.  They are retrenching fast.  I too have heard a
few whispers of improvements, but I don't expect the substantial leap that
F1 2k2 was over F1 2k1.  I'd love to be suprised.

NDA, eh?  Are you in a position to suggest to them that they need client
authentication also?  So that we don't have F1 cars disguised as Vipers, for
example?  Or people racing on different tracks than the server?  Or perhaps
that has been addressed already?

Didya ever notice that it's always the F1 cars masquerading as Vipers
and Not Vipers pretending to be F1 cars?  kinda humbling to be such a high
tech rig that you have to hide under the fenders of the most UNhigh-tech
sportscar out there !  :)

sorry enough chest thumping.  when the Private user who coded the Nascar
Heat multiplayer interface released that (IRF I think it was) he prevented
the cross modding that was possible with the original Heat multiplayer.
Similarly, with F1RST2, and F1 Relay, you have the other kinds of cars
locked out.  I don't think Heat was thought of as a Mod program, but there
are probably close to a half dozen mods available.  F1 2k1 also was not
thought of as a mod sim, but after the sucess of FIA GT V3, you'd think the
ISI team would have addressed what to do with all the possible mods online
when they were preparing F1 2k2.(or perhaps it was EA not funding that
extra work)

I've had Alfa's zoom past at 185mph pulling 18000 rpm
