Is it going to be a bunch of the familiar names here at r.a.s. getting all
moist about old cars, and then racing them online a la GPL?

Is that it? I hope there's more to it than that.

I hear Osama's been holed up in a cave waiting for this thing to come
out. Which is good, since we won't have to see or hear from him until,
oh, 2005. Maybe 1st quater 2006. Apparently they're recoding the
physics engine and trying to work in DirectX 12. I think there's a
radio show scheduled on 2/31/2004 to discuss features and what not.

Really? I had heard they had completely given up on writing auto simulators,
and had decided to start writing childrens books. Reportedly their first
project was going to be a story based on the popular fable about the Emperor
who had no clothes. If I live long enough, I might buy a copy for my
great-great-great-great-grandchildren.

I really wouldnt count on it coming out for a while, there hasnt been any
mention from any official source of an iniment release, just some form of
news, and having seen PC Gamer where its stating that WSC has been canned
Iam just keeping my fingers crossed for a hint of something fromt he ashes.

People shouldn't race online? Do you REALLY think they're only going to race
the older cars? Come on, Dave... :-)

I've got a pretty good F1 title....But do you know what I use it
for....??? To load up the FIA mod. You bet I"ll be looking for someone to
build some old mid-series Can Am cars...(high winged Chappys and Mclarens
and lolas) and I'm sure we'll find other things that suprise us...but..IF
WSC panns out then we'll all be in hog heaven, til something else comes
along.
One thing I NEVER understood was when SCGT and Nascar Heat started getting
mods, that people would waste time building F1 cars. With all the F1 titles
available it seemed daft! But then I had an epifh ...err I had an
epiphan....well I had a sudden burst of insight. The REASON folks built F1
cars for Heat, for N3 and other sims was so they COULD race em online...just
about any fake mod was better than what we have now for F1 online.
Hopefully someday that will change and we can all laugh about the silly
WSC-F1 cars everybody built.

The one common consensus that I have read from most everyone so far is how
"great" it is gonna be, how it will be "this" and have "that". But how do we
honestly know for sure? I ask this sincerely, and not as a flame either. It
just sounds to me like everyone is putting a whole lot of "hype" into a game
that they have no actual hard proof that it will actually live up to
everything that everyone has heard.

Do I hope it will -FINALLY- be released? Of course! Do I think it will be
God's gift to sim racers everywhere? Nope. I think there will be issues with
it, just as history has proven all other Games/Sims have had. Whether it be
Bugs, Compatibility issues, Resource issues, FPS issues, etc. Et-Al. I am
just trying to look at it realistically. Heck at this point I just hope that
it -DOES- get released this time around. As I too have called it Vapourware,
as it really has been -THEE- definition of Vapourware.

Flame away if you want, as I know this will strike a nerve with quite a few
people. But keep in mind that this post is not intended as flame-bait.
