a game with a realistic simulation.

I'm actually using a p200mmxwith a v2 card and am hosting races on VROC with
good results for up to 10 cars. There are various tweaks that you can do to
claw a few frames back such as the Smiley mirror hack, setting lower sound
quality and making appropriate graphics adjustments.

Mail me if you need details but remember to remove spam block first.

thanks for the offer!
I have already done quite a bit of tweaking,
I haven't tried the Smiley thing though, you can set the mirrors to a lower
framerate, right?

anyway, it won't help me much at the moment because the last few weeks I haven't
been able to play GPL, after a few seconds my graphics get all messy,
it seems to be a problem with the voodoo card, because it happens in all glide
games, do you have any idea what's causing this?

Mauri

a game with a realistic simulation.

Hi, thanks a lot to all.
I downloaded GPL but it doesn't work, when i start the simulation i can
see some fremes of the game an in 3 seconds it stops and i have to reset the
system. I tryed all resolution and the software rendering too... Is possible
that the demo is corrupt or... i don't know, i have to change some
configuration.
I have win98, wheel Guillemot with FF and a Blaster Voodoo 2.

I downloaded the Midtown Madnes 1 demo, nice... not a realistic sim but
nice, it work well with my system (P166MMX + V2) .

I'm thinking to download the demo of Rally Masters, to see the sim, do you
think it can work on my system? (surely poor)

What is CM2 ??  ....CMR2 ???

Nope,

The demo is the same as the full game.  You have the voodoo 2 driver problem.
Follow this link:  http://home.swbell.net/gmsmiley/Glide2x.zip
and dump the file in you GPL dir.

good luck

Well IMHO, Viper Racing is the best racer overall when it comes to being fun
and having a good "feel" as well as excellent graphics and physics, although it
has too few tracks. GPL has excellent physics, but is not as much fun, nor does
it have as good a "feel" with the twitchy spinout prone lightweight 60's
racers, albeit some people love the challenge.
Rally Masters is great fun , with lots of diverse tracks, both on and off-road,
and pretty decent physics. Nascar Heat is very good also, with awesome graphics
and physics, but the oval racing can get a bit boring sometimes.

I think the original poster said he was looking for a realistic simulation,
rather than something that was easy to play.

That's exactly where I was coming from when I first starting simracing, and
GPL is exactly the sort of thing I was after.

Well, maybe I got a bit more than I bargained for, but it was worth it! ;-)

The easy games may be fun for the first day or so, but it soon gets pretty
tiresome holding your foot to the floor and waiting for something
interesting to happen.

Uh, read the specs.  P166...

Personally, I would have left a P166 at Windows 95...

Yeah, GP2, while not totally a simulation, would be fun.

I'd say Nascar 1 or two would be a good start.  Maybe Viper Racing?  Will VR
run on a 166?

Sports Car GT needs far more horsepower than you have, so skip that one.

Indy Car Racing 2 would be a good choice, too.

You obviously haven't raced Viper in the Career mode in the higher skills :)

You'll get yer ass whooped if your not good :)
