OT: Follow Up On TaxCut

Well, it ain't perfect :(

For the first time, ever, I did electronic filing and direct deposit of my
refunds.

I got emails today that my Federal AND state were rejected due to errors.
This is AFTER their validation process said there were no errors in the
return.

And then I just got another email.  The jist of it says:

"Your ***ia tax return was rejected because of a problem with our
electronic filing process. We apologize for this inconvenience.

The problem will be corrected with an update that will be available soon. If
you have not already filed your return on paper, you can electronically file
your Federal return now. When the ***ia update is available you can
download the update and resubmit the state portion of your return
electronically (Note: The Federal return must be accepted by the IRS before
filing your State return). "

Since I already paid the $25 for electronic filing, I want it dammit!

How was the program compared to TurboTax, Larry?  I've been using TT for
years but will not this time. It's going to take a while to enter all my
stuff again, but aside from that, is Tax Cut easy enough to use?

It's definitely leaner, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.  I think the
interface is simpler too.

It seems more to the point, less about trying to sell you more stuff than
TurboTax is.  And when you print your taxes, if you print them, you get YOUR
TAXES.  Not 5 pages of taxes and 30 pages of other stuff you don't know what
you're supposed to do with.

In short, it gets the job done without the fluff.  For some this will be
better, for others it might not.  Personally, I like the cleaner approach.

Thanks, Larry. Any idea what the difference is between Tax Cut (deluxe or
pro, whichever it is)  and Tax Cut Standard?
The Maine State tax form is 1 page, so I don't really need that. Any other
differences that you know of?

I've been using TaxCut for 4 years now and it's very simple.  Back
then I tried using TT but seemed like overkill on all the reading.
With TaxCut it's very easy to use and guides you through the whole
process.

If you used TT you can import those files into TaxCut for last years
returns.  Also, I had formatted my hard drive, but kept my previous
years returns, so I just uploaded last years data and took me less
than 15 minutes to file both my Federal and State Taxes with itemized
deductions and file electronically.

I like to get the Deluxe, because it comes with IRS publications, tax
advisor, and you get the rebate for the state tax.  After I installed
the TaxCut cd, I then go to the website and download and purchase the
state, then turn in the mail in rebate to get my money back for the
state purchase.  You also get rebate to file electronic.
