I'm not sure if this would work, but I've thought of a way of making
league racing more even. What each player needs to do is list the
order of preference for the cars according to how quick they are/reckon
they could be in them. So in my case it would be something like:
Lotus
Eagle
Ferrari
Brabham
Coventry/Cooper
Murasama/Honda
BRM
Each driver is then allowed to start the season in their favourite
chassis but, depending on the race results, the car they have to drive
next time around will change in the following way.
1st or 2nd - drop 3 marques
3rd or 4th - drop 2 marques
5th or 6th - drop 1 marque
Outside the top 6 then move up a marque
So, if I were to finish in the top 6 in the Lotus then in the next race
I would drive either the Eagle, Ferrari or Brabham. Let's say I
finished 3rd so that in the next race I am in the Ferrari for the 2nd
race. If I now finish 3rd again in this race then I would drop 2
further marques down to the Coventry/Cooper. If, however I finished
outside the top 6 in the 2nd race then I would move back up 1 marque to
the Eagle. Get the idea?
Perhaps, in this way, there could be league races where everyone could
be competitive. It would take more paperwork, but perhaps it could
work?
