This is a little off topic, but since the end goal is to put a Rendition or
Voodoo card into my notebook...
I have a TI P133 notebook that came with an expansion base that houses
a CD-ROM and TI's "proprietary" Advanced PCI slot. I am not sure
if it is proprietary at all, but I can't find any information about it. I
opened
up the expansion base and it looks like there is room in there for a half
length card, and I would just need to do a little Dremel tool work to open
up a hole for the video connector and for some ventilation. Since it is
off
warranty, I don't mind doing this as any notebook and its peripherals are
pretty much disposable after a 2 year life in terms of market value.
So, after that lengthy intro, can someone tell me how many pins are on
a PCI card slot connection, and the physical length of it? Or maybe
someone
can point me to a good web page on PCI standards. Probably, if this
is at all feasible, a Voodoo would be a better idea to avoid conflicts with
the
on-board video chip, or have people with desktops with integrated video
had success disabling the on-board video and running an aftermarket
2D/3D card?
Maybe I'm crazy, but it would sure be fun to speed up Nascar 2, ICR 2,
or to try F1RS.
thanks for any help/advice
