After one lap at the Ring I didn't know what to think. The car seemed to
understeer like a pig with my usual setup which normally provides a
manageable oversteer, making the car delightfully lively around the
twisty circuit.

I've been away from GPL for a few weeks, so first thing that came into my
mind was: "Jesus, now I've really lost the touch." But as it felt more
like an Exxon tanker than a '67 GP car, I had to try the 1.1.0.3 to be
sure - and wham, the Ferrari was back to its normal self.

Now, before someone cries blue ***y *** - yes, I have done something
one is not supposed to do, coupled my English GPL with a German exe, but
I really thought that language was the only difference between these
"localized" versions. I'm sure that once we get the other 1.2.0.0
patches, all is well again. But what are the differences between these
versions that would cause the car to handle so differently with the very
same setups? What did I manage to overlook here (aside from the fact that
one really isn't supposed to use a German exe with the English version of
GPL :P)...

That's strange. My Brabham felt exatcly the same as in 1.1.0.3.

Yeah, that's what I thought at first, but the difference between
1.1.0.3 Eng and 1.2.0.0 Ger was just too huge to be left unnoticed. And
after a couple of laps, I was in my old form with 1.1.0.3 but still
totally lost with 1.2.0.0.

Dunno... seems no one else is experiencing this so if it's still there
when the English patch is officially released, I'm gonna see if a
complete reinstall changes anything.

Seems I cried wolf a bit prematurely. Just took a break from work and
decided to give this patch one final go. Everything worked perfectly -
the numbers on the setup screen, and the way the car felt on the track
were once again consistent. Only thing still bugging me is the fact that
I don't know what initially caused this prob. It was very real indeed,
and it's not like I'm on any medication. Honestly!  %\v

What really matters is that it never fails in taking my mind off the work
completely so maybe docs should start prescribing GPL for those of us
burning the midnight oil more often than not.
