Naw. I like Eli where he's at. He looks like my uncle and talks way too
much. I like *some* of DW's insights and his humor. I would like to have
Benny back as well as Dr Punch. Weber would be a definite gain. That chick on
pit road needs a new job though. Sometimes she asks some of the stupidest
questions.
Amy East at least was proficient with racing. I think "Hollywood" Hammond
likes his hotel and he does a good job there. The network geek he's paired
with just doesn't have a strong grasp of the sport. To me he comes off as a
network suit in a bluejean sport.
Come to think of it, I think a second ex-driver should be paired with the
crew. Two drivers, two crewchiefs. Each set picks a horse and tries to guide
it to victory lane. Ernie Irvan would be a my choice. I think him and Hammond
would be a dour twosome to put up against two flambouyant headliners. If Ernie
doesn't want it, Parsons would be a serious consideration. Except he's already
under contract. (NBC if memory servers.)
Ned's not coming out of retirement. If Big Bill France couldn't get him to get
back in a car, you're not going to see him in the booth. I have a feeling he's
enjoying the idea of being a grandfather and 'puttering' around with some other
stuff.
