Kenny Wallace says Nascar not as good as Daytona USA

The other night on AOL they had a chat session with ken Wallace and the
first question asked was weather he had tried Nascar Racing by Papyrus and
if so what did he think. He replied that the game DAYTONA USA was the most
realistic game he has played. More so then the game you can play on your
home computer.

This guy must have played BENC cause he can't really think that flipping
your car on lap one and then you keep on racing like nothing ever happened
doesn't seem very real to me. Probably not to Ricky Craven either. I
believe Ken has an Email address on AOL so maybe all of us should write to
him and challenge him to a little Multiplayer action.

It's the same as going from IndyCar 1 to 2.  It seems a small price to
pay for what I'm sure will be a much improved game.

Bobby Labonte had said that he enjoys playing Papyrus' Nascar.  When
asked how the simulator compares to real racing he said, "It is
realistic enough that if you didn't drive a race car you would get a
good feel. The set ups aren't quite the same but that is being worked
out in the new version of the game I understand."

Unless I'm mistaken, Hawaii is the new version of the physics model. So
work on your MULTI setups and you should be fine.

You might be surprised to find out that he might have already been on Multi.
Then again, multi might be new to him and he just might change his mind on
the entire deal, too.

Maybe Daytona is the best game Kenny Wallace has played... I
mean, maybe he hasn't played Nascar yet.

On a related note, I was watching NASCAR^H^H^H^H^H^HRPM2night last week and
they showed Jeff Gordon playing Papy's NASCAR Racing at one of the Winston
Select activities. They had a wheel/pedal combo and a monitor set up for him,
and he was night racing at C***te against ten other guys.  Gordon finished
9th and commented that he might report the other racers to Bill France because
their rough driving damaged his car at the beginning of the race.  Gordon also
raved about the NASCAR network setup (our Hawaii).

It makes me wonder if the race he was doing was against our Hawaii users (the
comment about the reckless drivers made me REALLY suspicious :-).  It was in
the daytime, Friday the 17th (I think).  Was anyone on Hawaii racing a
C***te night race at that time?  :-)

The computer Gordon was racing on was shit; it was in SVGA, no road texture, no
grass texture, no crowds (there were stands), and the frame rate was only about
5-10 fps.

Papyrus had three machines set up at C***te, and three machines at the
Electronic Entertainment Expo on the 17th.  They ran some private races
with these six machines, and some people in-house.  Jeff Gordon, Ricky
Craven and Bobby Labonte all participated from C***te (there may have
been others - I stopped racing around 5:00).  I've heard rumors of who
it is that ruffled Jeff's fenders, and that it was all in good fun.  It
was rather unfortunate, though.  Looked like Jeff was going to be fast.
That Jeff would want to report it to Bill France seems appropriate,
though :-)

The Hawaii race you saw on ESPN2 was on Hawaii (a.k.a. the NASCAR
Racing League prototype).  We had Jeff dialed in from the track in
C***te, 3 other pods (look like cars with computers inside) at the
E3 show in L.A., and a bunch of people from the Papyrus office in
Watertown, Ma.  We had it set up as a series race -- in other words,
you needed a password to get in.  It was done as part of the press
conference where NASCAR Racing 2, the NASCAR Racing League, and NASCAR
Racing for the Sony Playstation were announced.

One of the people racing with us from L.A. was Brian France.  It seems
that he & Jeff had a little bet going as to who was the better driver!
Who won?  Well, Jeff came in 9th, Brian 10th.  :-)
