I think it's great that some leagues are able to give prizes. But I was
wondering does anyone think we will ever see cash prizes anytime soon? I
don't have a use for another wheel or video card, etc.

I understand what you're saying.  However, I could always use extra
parts.  My V2 could ***out and I'd only have the 3D card to run with.
With the extra cards I get from winning *all* the races, I'd be back up in
no time;-)

As far as the extra cards are concerned for prizes,  It's a very good
start for the GPL community.  The Stock car boys have had the same type of
prizes for quite some time.  Sooner or later someone will start with cash
prizes.  All though I'd assume that'll be at least another 3-5 years yet.
If you're thinking of some real cash.. I.E. in the millions, you won't see
that for a minimum of 20-30 years yet.  Till that day I'd assume $5.00 would
be the most you'll see. err, you get the point.

There is only one thing missing that can start the whole thing off..
Some one has to step up to be the first.

If I remember right, www.ustoys.com has some 3-6 inch trophies for like
$2.00/case.  Cheep enough to buy by the bulk, It's just the mailing that
might cost some.  I'd rather get a 3 inch plastic trophy then nothing at all
for league races and these would be just about perfect :-)  The next step
for prizes would be multiple prizes per event.  1st 2nd 3rd place trophies,
cash for 1st and 2nd, interviews for 1st, ect.. ect.. for each event.  I'm
sure if the leagues asked for $5.00 per member for yearly fee's, they could
easily cover the cost of the trophies and mailing at least one a week out to
who ever.

The PRC's TNT and Wednesday series have cash prizes.  Go to
http://www.proracingclub.com/N3/schedule/schedule.html and click the links
for more info.   I believe there's $205 in gift certificates to amazon.com
or buy.com up for grabs.  Additionally, I believe the Wednesday Series has
$100 up for grabs.
