"I remember the best lap times ever recorded in GP2 were done by guys
using the keyboard! Sad but true..."
First you are talking about "the best laptimes EVER recorded". Not
about beginner laptimes or early laptimes or anything
Then you try to tell us that this devaluates the sim qualities of GP2
so much (because keyboard players could do better than wheel drivers
and this is so unreal). Your REAL hidden agenda, of course.
I don't even believe for a second that keyboard drivers were faster at
the beginning. The HOF2, the hotlap competition that set the
standards, had wheel and joystick drivers at the top from the start.
You were just looking in the wrong places.
So the problem is NOT that I should read more carefully, I believe <G>

I think you missed my point altogether.
My point was simply that when I was playing, the best times were set by guys
using the keyboard. To which you responded that I was talking nonsense and
that it was not true and that I was talking about F1GP. I then told you
that when I was playing it was indeed the case.
I can't really see how this translates into "Then you try to tell us that
this devaluates the sim qualities of GP2 so much" which of course is my
"REAL hidden agenda"
The truth is out there Mulder, you just need to know where to look...

Well, your statement "when I was playing" certainly was much too
general here. In places where good keyboard drivers were driving
against good wheel drivers, wheel drivers have *ALWAYS* been
considerably faster, even at the start.
Do I have to repeat it again? :-)
You said:

Why do you say "Sad but true....". I don't think there is another
interpretation than that you don't like the fact that a keyboard would
be faster than a wheel (which isn't true anyway of course). And which
reason is there not to like that fact? Can't be another reason than
that this spoils the "sim" qualities of the game for you. Why is it
"sad" otherwise???? Just tell us.

This ramble has gone on long enough.
This is Ripley, first officer of the Nostromo, signing off.
