It depends on which N2 version you have. Simply go to Sierra's website
at http://www.sierra.com and go the support page. Under the Nascar2
section, you will find instructions on which patch you need. And don't
forget the patch to the patch! ;-) In addition, once you get
comfortable with the game, I highly recommend the improved AI utilities
that are available for this sim. For example, the Taladega AI upgrade
by Tom Hansen is superb, and there are others, with more being written.
Good luck and have fun!
God Bless,
Andre

The latest version is 1.03, if you go to
www.sierra.com/support/technical/pathes.html you should find n2pat0.exe
or n2pat1.exe which should take you directly to the latest patch level.
Read the instructions on which one will apply to you.

Uh, heh heh, You don't even want me to go there.......
Good luck if you need any support relating to the drunk driving habits
of the ai after you patch with the fix or the fix to the fix, maybe
with the fix to the fix to the fix to the fix <G>.
Just wrote them again regarding my probs that they said a clean
install and application of their n2pat0 *only* would fix. Amazing how
I was suprised to see that nothing was changed after noting that the
filesizes, dates, and all that the "new" patch changed where the exact
same as the original patch sizes and dates which I had writting down
previously.
Good luck, some folks have had no problems at all, but if you find
yourself being cutoff and run into in the turns if you have the low
groove whether you are on the rear quarter or a fender ahead of the ai
remember where you heard about it.

Guess, what? Papyrus never said they fixed the AI (except for an
attempt at the pitting problems under yellow at Atlanta). If you are
looking for AI fixes, we have improved AI for Martinsville and Talladega
at http://www.teleport.com/~mcarver/utilitie.htm and hope to have
Bristol and Darlington soon. Also check out AI enhancements at The Pits
site.

This is exactly some of the issues Jon, Rob, and I are addressing in our
AI enhancements. If you haven't checked out the Martinsville
enhancement, do so. They will race harder but cleaner. They will give
you room to race, but they won't let you off easy.

Thanks, off to try something else here.

% On my way to check them out, I had the ones for taladega and such but
% Sierra said to me that my problem was using any patches but theirs and
% that what they had me do would specificaly fix the problem <shrug>
% Gotta miss Papy being on their own sometimes.
What Sierra was implying was that any "unofficial" patches could cause
their patch program to not patch a particular file. About the only
file that was affected in the last round of patches was the layout.dat
file. If a file that is getting patched by Sierra is not the version
they are looking for, the patch usually isn't applied. So the best
thing to do, is keep a record of the files that you alter or are not
official Papyrus/Sierra files. Keep a backup of the original file and
when it comes time to patch again, restore the "official" files. After
the patch you can check and see if any of the files for which you have
unofficial patches were altered. If not, you should be safe to go back
to the "unofficial" patched files.
