Ferrari wheel makes modem light up !

by Judge Groov » Sat, 02 Jun 2001 05:56:30

Hi,

Does anybody else have this problem ?

Guillemot Ferrari FF wheel on USB port, Win98SE and a Pace Solo external
modem.

When the driver for the wheel are loaded the modem goes 'live' when Windows
starts - the 'mode' light goes on.  This means that the com port has been
activated and so the modem goes out of independant mode and so doesn't work
as a standalone answerphone.  I can get around this by initiating and
terminating a dial up connection, but I shouldn't need to and it bugs me !

Does anybody have the same thing and a solution ?

Thanks

Ian

Yep, I get the same thing on W98 (first edition) and a Supra Express 56e PRO
modem.  Since I switched back from another wheel to the Guillemot, there's
always an extra modem light on, even when not connected.  Doesn't really
affect me though.

I guess the wheel is using some resources it shouldn't be.  Maybe you could
try the wheel through the serial port instead?

The TM-FF wheel has a serial and USB connector.  I'm thinking it's
trying to find it on the serial port as well.  No solution, but at least
a plausible explaination.

Jason.

Yep, thats what I thought  - ***software, if it s on the USB then
don't look on the com port !

I think I'll try tech support and see if they answer the phone...
