GP3 - Rain Problem with Graphics

by Chris Bloo » Thu, 22 Mar 2001 23:21:23

I have decided to give Gp3 another chance and I'm actually enjoying it a bit
more now.  However when it is raining I am getting almost constant HD
activity.  This also happens in Fifa 2001 when it is raining so I presume it
has something to do with the way my graphics card draws the rain.  Both
games run fine in "dry" conditions.  Is there a way maybe to make GP3 not
draw the raindrops but still have the wet conditions?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

It would help if you gave us a few details of your system......

Hi,

it sounds to me that your system and possibly graphics card is low on
memory, or is handling it imporperly. Close any background programs you
might have before running GP3 (virus scanners and such), and also try
reducing the texture detail level in the options (this is possible for
hardware acceleration).

I tried that reduce texture option aswell as fiddling around with the
cards.txt file.  It's probably something with the Savage 4, which has been a
pretty unreliable piece of hardware.

I play both games(GP3 and Fifa2001(took Leeds all the way to league, champions,
and FA cups)) and I have no problem whatsoever, so methinks it probally is your
system.  You said you had a pentium II?

YUP!  The Savage was never a universally(sp?) accepted card so there is
a good chance many programs won't play nicely with it.  Time to bite the
bullet..
and get one of those.....I....can't.....say......it's ......name....:)

<details of problem with rain graphics in GP3 snipped>

Prime suspect would be the Savage, as I think you've probably guessed from
what you write elsewhere in this thread.

Are there different driver versions that you can try?  Have you tried
playing with all the Direct3d options in the display properties?

Sorry I can't be more help....
