I can't guarantee it, but I hear a demo MAY be released sometime in the next
few days.

I have no idea which track.

Are you basing this on a reliable source, or are you just guessing
based on the release date being next week?

Let's hope so.  I'd like to take a test drive.

I hope it isn't too much like SCGT. I just took a couple of laps around Laguna
Seca and Las Vegas last night after spending the past few months playing GPL.
Never realized how bad SCGT actually is. I used to love it. Now I'm thinking of
chunking it entirely.

Ouch... laguna seca.  Bad choice.  That was absoultly the worst model of Laguna
Seca I ever saw.  LV was pretty good, one of my faves the game had.

Well, the physics are the main problem. Absurd. Advanced Options Editor or no,
the physics are just too ridiculous. I hope F12K is a little better considering
it's the same game engine.

F1 2000 Demo May Be Out Soon

Wow, the SCGT naysayers are coming out of the woodwork!  Well, even though I
play it a fair amount, let me pitch in too :-)

Out of the box:
1) Far too forgiving handling (traction, too much understeer, no/little
wheelspin).
2) Poor graphics vs framerate tradeoff.  800x600 slows on a 450mhz, Banshee so
badly with only 15 cars??  Many other titles fair far better.
3) Only 15 cars in a race, nevermind how slow it runs.
4) Raising tire pressure increases that side's grip??
5) The sound balance is absolutely horrid.  Loud cars around you, while your
car whispers.
6) *Originally* no dash.  What were they thinking?? Okay, by the time it
shipped, one crappy dash, with barely legible tach, and an incorrect one at
that (rpm's don't match the external gauge's).

The advanced option patch helped #1 quite a bit.  And the power users out
there, god bless there souls, made it quite enjoyable with their addons.  But
I think they have a way to go before they compare to Papyrus.

Fingers crossed...

Whew, I too thought I was the only one who didn't think too highly of
SCGT... but then again, I seem to be the only one who doesn't like
Dirt Track Racing too :)

No, not the only one.  I like SCGT fairly well, but never really saw what
all the fuss was about with DTR.  The career mode was sorta neat, but the
driving got REAL monotonous after a short time.  And I'm no road-course
"snob", I watch NASCAR and play N3/NL, etc. quite a bit, so I'm not
anti-oval or anything.  I just didn't "get" what was so huge about DTR.
