Rally Championship question

by Cuco Negro » Mon, 13 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Hi:
 I just bought Rally Championship. It works great, with excellent
graphics and sound. I also downloaded the latest patch (5.27). I read
somewhere that the US version of RC has some patches already applied.
Should I install the patch I downloaded? Anybody knows or have tried?
Any adverse results?

Also Is there somebody using RC with the CH F-16 Fighterstick and the
ProPedals that could tell me if he/she has been able to make the pedals
work with RC. I haven't! BTW, the pedals work great with all other
programs.

TIA,

AFAIK the US version is at patch level 4, which is the latest released
patch.
Search for another recent RC post in the newsgroup, someone went over
the whole procedure for getting mixed controls to work.

Good luck!

No need to add the patch because the U.S. version is current. There is
another patch on the way though.

As far as I can tell, the US version does NOT support mixed controls out of
the box.  I've tried the procedure that Phil Lee outlined in an earlier
post, and cannot get it to work.

His reference to a frame counter in a ral.cfg file doesn't work either, so
I tend to believe that the US version is not "fully patched".  I'm going to
try installing the latest patch and see if it helps......

I think Phil forgot to mention that in order for any changes to take effect,
the following line must also be added to the ral.cfg file. It 's sort of an
"on" switch.

fizpatch=1

Phil Le

Rally Championship question

by Phil Le » Tue, 14 Mar 2000 04:00:00

I didn't mention fizpatch=1 because I don't need it to get the mergejoy and
framerate lines to work.  In my experience, the fizpatch line is only needed
when the physics modification lines such as patchstickygrass are added.  My
ral.cfg file has the following lines in it:

framecounter=1
sensiblesaving=1
mergejoy=1
nofmv=1

All the features enabled by these settings work.

Cheers

I'll try adding that line.  Installing the latest patch to the US version
resulted in no difference at all.

It didn't hurt, but it didn't help either....

Are you absolutely sure the framerate counter doesn't work? The numbers are
very small and at the top/center of the screen.

Are you sure the rally.cfg (or ral.cfg?) file is in the .\var
directory?

I just checked again, and yes, I'm absolutely sure that there is no framerate
counter visible.

I'm running a Voodoo2 at 800x600 if that makes any difference.

Rally Championship question

by BRH » Thu, 16 Mar 2000 04:00:00

Yes, it is in my d:\rc\var directory and it was created using MS notepad.

Here's what's in my ral.cfg file:

fizpatch=1
framecounter=1
sensiblesaving=1
mergejoy=1

Now, you've confused me with your last post.  Is the file called ral.cfg or
rally.cfg?

Note:  I've tried it with and without that first line.  It didn't make any
difference.

Phil Le

Rally Championship question

by Phil Le » Thu, 16 Mar 2000 04:00:00

The file is definitely called ral.cfg.  From what you have been saying it
loks like the US version (5.28.1 I think) cannot be configured using the
ral.cfg.  I must stress that I have no evidence other than what has been
said on this thread to back up this claim though.  Maybe someone with the US
version who has got the ral.cfg file working could contribute.

Cheers

Phil
