Look closely -- the arms and hands are there already.  I pray they allow you
to toggle this option off (as well as the moving wheel, too).

Stop being observant Frank. :-)
I like to see it when he gets rid of his steering wheel too...."Where's my
telemetry?!?!?!?!"

Another time.... I see no arms and hands in those pictures !!!!!

All I see is a dark grey normal padding you have where the hands should be,
with the holes in them (you see the silver paddles there also).  If you saw
hands and arms, it would actually take a lot of space, especially in the
gp3c  picture, since the right hand would be hiding part of the wheel ;-)

It's not a very good picture, but aren't those arms that I see attached to
the hands on the wheel, or am I seeing the side rails of the***pit and
mistaking that for arms?

Oops -- waitaminit . . . I just checked the screen shots again, and it
appears that I AM mistaken.  What I thought were "hands" is actually the
grip section of the wheel (looked like a black-gloved hand ON the wheel to
me at first glance) -- and I mistook the side of the***pit on the right
(the part with the red "N" in the white circle) to be part of a driving suit
sleeve (with an arm inside, of course).

Sorry 'bout that -- looks like I was VERY wrong.

Now, make that wheel stand still -- I don't want my CPU spending precious
cycles painting sideways numerals when there's serious physics to be
modelled!

;-)

No need for the apology. Look at the first screenshot and at how sharp
the corner of the building is. Adding an extra poly to the model wouldn't
increase the overhead by anything noticable and the starting grid is the
place you spend longest looking at the scenery so IMO it should be more
detailled than the rest of the track and certainly more detailled than it
is. Those models looked like GP2 with some new textures.

Incidentally... I'm not commenting on the playability/speed of engine etc
here but I expected more from the gfx engine.

Never tried GPL did you? Once you're used to the wheels and steering wheel
it's very hard to step back to sims who don't have it included. It really adds
to realism.

Maybe I got problems with my eyes or we are looking at different shots but I
really don't get your point. In fact it all looks very smooth (especially when
you consider this to be the software-rendered version) to me. Look at the
curvature of the front wheels, pretty cool IMO.

BTW: I simply can't imagine that GP3 won't support 3D acc. cards, they would
be very stupid IMHO.

In modern F1 a lot of information is displayed on the steering wheel,
like the LEDs representing the revs. How would you provide this
information to the player if you were Geoff?

Duh!  The McLaren car was on display on a different stand - I can't
remember the company (although they make steering wheels, or something).
MicroProse/Hasbro had no F1 cars on display.

I want the moving steering wheel too, as well as road wheels that actually
turn at the speed the car is travelling or slower when they start to lock up
!!
Just like GPL :)

[snip]

That's correct. The McLaren mock-up was for the McLaren racing wheel
called "Double Tremor" I think. They had them linked to Playstations
but the blurb says that they're also for the PC. The wheels are
distributed by Sony and the RRP is GBP 119.90 which sounds too ***y
expensive. Also note that there was a Jordan car there as well at the
Jordan racing wheel stand (for Nintendo and Playstation).

If it really adds realism, then explain to me why I always keep the
wheel/arms turned off when playing GPL?
